Certainty and normalcy are things that we take for granted in life. When we enjoy these peaceful times, we complain about the mundane.

But normalcy and routine are generally unproductive.

Naturally for there to be a shift, there will be disturbance of the normal. There will be upheaval of the soil before seed can be planted. There will be a shaking before there can be settlement.

Bitter taste makes for a good appreciation of the sweet.

When there had been darkness, the arrival of light and illumination is exciting.

God sometimes test us before we are promoted. Job 23:10 But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold. Psalm 26:1-2 Judge me, O Lord ; for I have walked in mine integrity: I have trusted also in the Lord ; therefore I shall not slide.  Examine me, O Lord , and prove me; try my reins and my heart.

Sometimes it is called trial: Psalm 66:10-12 For thou, O God, hast proved us: thou hast tried us, as silver is tried.  Thou broughtest us into the net; thou laidst affliction upon our loins.  Thou hast caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water: but thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place. Isaiah 48:10-11 Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.  For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? and I will not give my glory unto another.

Romans 5:3-5 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;  And patience, experience; and experience, hope:  And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us

Every step Abraham took with God involved occasional shaking. Genesis 20:1-6 And Abraham journeyed from thence toward the south country, and dwelled between Kadesh and Shur, and sojourned in Gerar.  And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister: and Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah.  But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man’s wife.  But Abimelech had not come near her: and he said, Lord, wilt thou slay also a righteous nation?  Said he not unto me, She is my sister? and she, even she herself said, He is my brother: in the integrity of my heart and innocency of my hands have I done this.  And God said unto him in a dream, Yea, I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee from sinning against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her.

Asked to sacrifice his son after he had sent away Ishmael. Every disturbance led to divine discovery, divine opportunity and divine approval.

The famine in Gerar became an opportunity for Isaac. Genesis 26:13  the man waxed great and went forward and grew and he became very great.

Jacob was in despair at the cusp of his turnaround. Scammed by Laban. Confronted with imminent attack by his brother. He had divine encounter. Genesis 32:24-28 And he took them, and sent them over the brook, and sent over that he had.  And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.  And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him.  And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.  And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob.  And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.

  • During unusual times, it’ll appear as if there is conspiracy against you.
  • A time of truth when you’ll know who your friends are.

David was anointed king when he did not ask for it nor covet it. It became an unusual time.

The Holy Spirit constructed a situation where he had to live with Saul from whom he would take the crown.

Goliath presented a troubling time for David to contend with.

1 Chronicles 12:17-18 And David went out to meet them, and answered and said unto them, If ye be come peaceably unto me to help me, mine heart shall be knit unto you: but if ye be come to betray me to mine enemies, seeing there is no wrong in mine hands, the God of our fathers look thereon, and rebuke it.  Then the spirit came upon Amasai, who was chief of the captains, and he said, Thine are we, David, and on thy side, thou son of Jesse: peace, peace be unto thee, and peace be to thine helpers; for thy God helpeth thee. Then David received them, and made them captains of the band.

James 1:2-3 HCSB Consider it a great joy, my brothers, whenever you experience various trials,  knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.

1 Peter 1:6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:

You must understand unusual times to be able to take full advantage of the opportunities it presents.

The whole universe may Go through unusual times. It may be natural disaster or pestilence.

A nation may go through unusual times. History is replete with nations that have had to go through. The nation of Israel emerged from unusual times in Egypt to evolve as a nation. The present Israel could not be established until after the Nazi Germany had massacred millions of them.

The greatness of America could not manifest until they have gone through their unusual times fighting the unification war. Out of the ruins of war came what became known as industrial revolution.

The Church emerged after facing unusual times. The disciples were probably content, facing their little persecution in Jerusalem and its environs. But Paul went to Rome to instigate the principalities and power. To provoke the city into uproar. It created an unusual times. The result is the spread of the gospel all over the world.

  1. The church should brace itself to face unusual times worldwide.
  2. Families may face unusual times
  3. Individually, it is an unusual season.

It is meant for your lifting.

It’s meant for your growth. There is going to be a shift to your advantage.

Brace yourself for divine impact. Brace yourself for unusual times. Unusual blessing. Unusual favour.

Luke 21:13 And it shall turn to you for a testimony.

Philippians 1:12 But I would you should understand brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel.

1 Thessalonians 3:3-4 That no man should be moved by these afflictions: for yourselves know that we are appointed thereunto.

The outcome is assured. You are coming out on top. This season will be your vehicle to manifestation.

It’s your vehicle to breakthrough. You are going higher.

Psalms 107:19-30 Then they cry unto the Lord in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses.  He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.  Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!  And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with rejoicing.  They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters;  These see the works of the Lord , and his wonders in the deep.  For he commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up the waves thereof.  They mount up to the heaven, they go down again to the depths: their soul is melted because of trouble.  They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wits’ end.  Then they cry unto the Lord in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses.  He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still.  Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven.

Psalm 125:1-3 They that trust in the Lord shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.  As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the Lord is round about his people from henceforth even for ever.  For the rod of the wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous; lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity.

Psalm 126:1-3 When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.  Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The Lord hath done great things for them.  The Lord hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.
