Mark 4:35-41 And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side. And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships. And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith? And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?
 There are many ways you could have attempted to deal with the storm. You can choose to ignore it and hope that it’ll go away. Run as fast as possible. Blame the enemy. Try to construct a defence against it. Panic and cause even more commotion than the storm. Speak to the elements that is powering the storm.
 Jesus demonstrated a unique way to deal with storms. He spoke to the power behind the storm. Peace be still.
God operates and controls with His word. At creation, in Genesis 1:1-2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
There is no vacuum in space. There is energy in the air and the atmosphere. There is a force behind the gentle wind and the wind boisterous. When you open your mouth to speak, you release energy that has the capacity to create, instruct or destabilise.
Why the enemy will instigate storms to disrupt your peace:

  1. To cause you to be distracted. Mark 5:1-5 The deliverance of the mad man of Gaderer.
  2. To consume the head and scatter the body.
  3. To decimate the faith of people in your boat.
  4. To keep you in fear.
  5. To cause destruction.

 Sometimes, the storm is of God, for a purpose. Jonah and Paul. Acts 27:27
 Sometimes, it’s self inflicted. When you instigate war against yourself.

  1. Be at peace with all men. Hebrews 12:14
  2. Serve God. Exodus 23:25 You will serve the Lord.
  3. Isaiah 55: 7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord , and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
Isaiah 55:12 For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.

If its of the devil, God has given us a sure antidote to every storm of life. Whatever wants to disrupt your peace are quenchable by the power of words. Luke 21:15 For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.
The words of God.
Every circumstances have a word designed for them. Isaiah 34:16 Seek ye out of the book of the Lord , and read: no one of these shall fail, none shall want her mate: for my mouth it hath commanded, and his spirit it hath gathered them.
The word prosper well in the mouth of those who are sold out to the gospel. Hebrew 4:2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

Psalm 107:20 He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. The word is God in spiritual operation. John 1:1-3. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
1John 1:1-3 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
The words of command:
Isaiah 3:10 Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.
Hosea 14:2 Take with you words, and turn to the Lord : say unto him, Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously: so will we render the calves of our lips.
Jeremiah 15:16 Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O Lord God of hosts.

It’s important in the Spirit realm to speak.
Matthew 16:19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
Mark 11:23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
The battle between David and Goliath was not only about stones and swords. Words were spoken. 1 Samuel 17:43-47 And the Philistine said unto David, Am I a dog, that thou comest to me with staves? And the Philistine cursed David by his gods. And the Philistine said to David, Come to me, and I will give thy flesh unto the fowls of the air, and to the beasts of the field. Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied. This day will the Lord deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. And all this assembly shall know that the Lord saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the Lord’s , and he will give you into our hands.
Job 22:27-28 Thou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he shall hear thee, and thou shalt pay thy vows. Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.
